After reviewing our current site analysis, we want to create a positive local and generational interaction between local-residents, temporary locals (students), and those in need of care.
We want to provide a reinvigorated connection between generations and the site, linking skills with the university and fortify a stronger relationship between families and bridge the gap of generational social isolation, and also provide new and alternate ways to improving health through a variety of means. The project aims to design a movement through Laira that draws in the surrounding connections between the hospital, local residents and the care home. It is our strategy to renovate the existing structures as well as introduce new buildings and new ways to interact socially within the site, while increasing the underlying social fabric of the spaces and offering new programmatic prospects which the current amenities surrounding the site are unable to provide.
